- Ensure a meaningful and productive program experience for students
- Prepare for and deliver engaging math and/or verbal SAT test-prep instruction virtually to groups of high school students using an established SAT curriculum
- Assign, monitor and encourage homework completion
- Respond to student homework questions via our student learning platform and email
- Satisfactorily capture and submit student attendance
- Build a warm and welcoming virtual classroom environment
- Demonstrate virtual classroom management skills, including navigating between whole-group instruction and small-group and individual support
- Attend weekly coaching meetings with Instructional Coach and Supervisor
Leadership Responsibilities (30%)
- Respond to student communication (emails & messages) about SAT Prep and operations, including but not limited to program launch, diagnostic completion, and scheduling
- Assist PM in instructor training and program debrief initiatives, including delivering select content and leading a space for instructors to practice during the training period
- Facilitate the second day of testing for Diag 1 and 2 and support with other diagnostic testing initiatives as needed
- Additional duties may be included (such as class coverage, zoom moderator)
Qualifications and Experience

Additional Information about this Position:
This is a temporary, part- time remote position that requires 12 to 16 hours per week. The schedule varies, but instructors are expected to commit to the position from May 15th, 2024 through August 13th, 2024. - Access Core coaches are expected to attend mandatory training in August 2024 and complete onboarding tasks before working with students

This is a part- time remote position that requires 5 to 8 hours per week. The schedule varies, but coaches are expected to commit to the position for a full year from August 2024 through August 2025. Flexibility will be offered for school breaks/personal breaks as appropriate to meet program objectives and in consultation with your manager.

Through an innovative program model that stands apart from other college access and success programs, LGR serves more than 13,000 students annually and engages more than 150 college students as paid near-peer coaches, most of whom are former participants in the program. There is no nomination process or academic requirements for participation in Let’s Get Ready programs. Any student who expresses interest is eligible for services, with students from low-income backgrounds or who are first-generation-to-college given priority. Overall, 89% of LGR students are students of color, 80% are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, and 71% are the first in their family to attend college. All components of the organization’s programs are designed with this population and the requisite cultural competence in mind.
Position Overview:
Reporting to a Program Manager, a Virtual Access Coach works remotely to provide virtual support by text, phone/video, and email to support a cohort of current high school seniors as they apply to college and make the important decision about where to attend school. Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creatively developing relationships with a caseload of students to increase program engagement and support through the college process
- Sending weekly individualized text messages using a website called Mainstay to students (this site can only be accessed through a laptop not by cell phone)
- Work to meet organizational goals around student engagement and milestone assessments
- Sending bi-weekly emails to students through LGR’s assigned email address
- Conducting monthly check-in calls with students via phone/video
- Utilizing LGR’s curriculum and resources to assist students with their applications for college and financial aid, college decision-making, and college enrollment
- Tracking communication with mentees using our Salesforce data platform
- Attending a weekly supervision meeting (by phone/video) with a Program Manager to discuss progress towards goals; flagging and notifying Program Manager of urgent/sensitive situations
- May be asked to support with student recruitment efforts in the Spring/Summer by making phone calls to students
- May be asked to support as a zoom moderator for college workshop support
Qualifications:
- Be extremely comfortable building relationships virtually via phone calls, email, text messaging, live video streams, etc.
- Have exceptional rapport-building ability, communication skills, time management, attention to detail, and organizational and problem-solving skills
- Balance result-driven work with a personable approach
- Be comfortable working independently and dependently in a virtual environment

In addition to supporting students over texts, coaches will work with their program manager to prepare for and deliver ~monthly Zoom workshops around the college admissions process. Workshops aim to inform and guide students, deepen relationships between students and Core coaches, and engage students on a deeper level around the college admissions process.

Position Responsibilities:
- Respond to student text messages received on our texting platform within 24 hours
- Check Mainstay everyday, at minimum an hour a day to ensure all messages are seen and being responded to
- Provide engaging support to students, including advice, resources and encouragement around topics such as: completing tasks to apply for college, completing financial applications, enrolling into a college, talking to their guidance counselor, accessing academic and mental health support, school-work-life balance, and other obstacles
- Provide a college perspective – sharing relevant stories from your experience as a college student to help students navigate their own journey
- Send relevant tip sheets from LGR curriculum and guide students to make good use the school resources available to them
- Develop warm rapport with students and ask follow-up questions, with the goals of increasing program engagement and supporting matriculation and persistence in college
- May be asked on occasion to make phone calls to students for further assistance with the college access process
- May be asked to support as a zoom moderator for college workshop support
- Facilitate ~5 virtual, 1.5 hour long workshops every ~6 weeks and host one-on-one college list building meetings with students
- Prepare to facilitate workshop 4 weeks in advance by attending workshop content walkthrough, reviewing and updating own speaker notes, and practicing a “dress rehearsal” run through with program manager and on own time
Qualifications:
- Must be a current or recent undergraduate student who has demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
- Students must be able to commit to the position for the full school year with summer employment included (August 2024 through August 2025).
