New York, NY (January 6, 2017) — Let’s Get Ready, a nonprofit that provides students from low-income backgrounds with the support they need to attain a college education, today announced the appointment of Kathrine Mott as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 6.

Since its founding in 1998, Let’s Get Ready has served nearly 30,000 high school students through the efforts of more than 11,000 trained volunteer college students. Let’s Get Ready works in partnership with colleges, high schools and community organizations, with programs stretching from Lewiston, Maine to Philadelphia. Let’s Get Ready alumni matriculate at rates double that of their peers (92%) and are five times more likely to earn college degrees.

As CEO, Mott will steward Let’s Get Ready’s vision and program model for its college Access, Transition, and Success programs as the organization enters a new period of strategic growth and enhanced impact. “Kathrine brings a passion for — and deep expertise in — closing the education opportunity gap for underserved students,” said Gary S. Matthews, chairman of Let’s Get Ready. “She impressed us all with her thoughtful vision for Let’s Get Ready‘s future and her abilities as a proven leader and partnership builder.”

“The field of education is experiencing tremendous innovation and change,” said Mott. “True success in college preparation has evolved to include helping underserved students graduate from college. I am honored to join Let’s Get Ready, a top performing organization in terms of impact and cost-effectiveness among its peer nonprofits.”

Mott served most recently as the Executive Director of Citizen Schools New York-New Jersey, which engages AmeriCorps service members and volunteers to enrich and extend the school day for middle school students. Prior positions include Executive Director at REACH, which offers academic support and incentive payments to NYC teens from low-income communities; college program director at Management Leadership for Tomorrow and senior leadership roles at Kaplan Test Prep. Her commitment to education equity developed when she volunteered as a college student at the Sue Duncan Children’s Center in Chicago. Mott is a graduate of Northwestern University and earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management
