Hey everyone, I’m Ayomide, but you can call me A Y. I’m currently a sophomore at Centre College in Kentucky. But my story starts in NYC, where I first discovered Let’s Get Ready (LGR) as a high school sophomore.
When I began my college prep journey, I needed extra support. My school guidance counselor was largely unavailable during the pandemic, and my parents, who immigrated from Nigeria, weren’t familiar with the U.S. college admissions process. Thankfully, my older sister, a former LGR student, introduced me to the program.
LGR was a game-changer for me. They helped with my SAT prep, college applications, and financial aid and provided invaluable guidance on preparing for college life. Today, I’m proud to say I’m an LGR College Access alum, a member of the Student Leadership Council, and a Success Coach. LGR has been a significant part of my life for five years!
Thanks to LGR, I felt well-equipped and supported when starting college. I wanted to share this toolkit with other students facing similar challenges, so I became a coach. It’s been an enriching experience. I’ve learned how to guide and lead others while gaining insights about myself through interactions with diverse students.
Currently, I’m studying Physics at Centre College as a Posse Scholar. My plans include pursuing graduate studies in Engineering because I love the challenge of building things. I’m excited to carry my LGR journey wherever I go and continue contributing to an organization that has given me so much.
Build a better tomorrow for LGR youth with me,
Ayomide “A Y”
