Founded in 1998 by a college student who wanted to help her peers transition to college, Let’s Get Ready (LGR) has supported more than 50,000 students nationwide in their aspirations to gain access to college and earn a degree through our innovative near-peer mentorship model. The simple idea that near-peers are the best resource for students navigating college has matured to support more than 24,000 students in 45 states and over 1,800 zip codes nationwide.
LGR prioritizes students who are first-generation to college and from low-income communities, and our virtual, near-peer intervention is proven effective as our students graduate at double the rate of their peers!
In 2024, we honored The School District of Philadelphia’s
Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Partnerships, Ayana Lewis, Esq.
Hear about LGR’s impact in her words.
Since 2014, Let’s Get Ready (LGR), a national college access and success organization empowered by the genius of near-peer coaches who support students navigating the road to and through college has integrated its virtual program model in Philadelphia. This April, some of Philadelphia’s most impactful education leaders will join LGR students, coaches, staff, and alumni in Philadelphia to learn about our impact over the past decade and goals for the future. We currently serve more than 1,500 students throughout the commonwealth and are proud to partner with the School District of Philadelphia and other community-based partners to provide our virtual, near-peer coaching model to students in high school and college.
To commemorate this incredible legacy in Philadelphia and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we invited a brilliant community of academic, nonprofit, governmental, and philanthropic leaders to celebrate with us for a celebratory cocktail reception. We are proud that one of Philadelphia’s most stalwart leaders, Dr. Stacy Holland, chaired this event.
We were also excited to have our CEO, Lena Eberhart, share that Let’s Get Ready plans to grow to 5,000 students in Philadelphia by 2027!
Our model is rich and unique because we leverage technology to amplify the voices and expertise of high school and college students who are empowered to elevate one another, persist in college, and ignite change in their communities. LGR students in Philadelphia graduate from college at THREE TIMES THE RATE of their peers because of the investment in their leadership and futures made by our community of supporters and donors.
